My Story...
My musical journey started as I was 5 years old. My father, a physician with a big heart for music was having another "Jam session" in our basement. I was peeking through the door and singing along. After a while my father heard me and invited me in. I stayed there for the entire session, singing along and enjoying myself. It became my biggest passion and with my father's guidance, I started improving my vocal skills.
In 1984, I moved to Bangalore, India and attended a boarding school. I soon joined a gospel choir of a little chapel at the school. Surrounded by the authentic Indian music, I was inspired by different styles of music and started writing my own songs. With the age of 16, I moved to Germany where I continued my studies and started working on numerous musical projects as a composer and vocalist.
My interest in various styles of music led me to work with composers and musicians of different musical backgrounds. My appreciation for Classic, Traditionals, Pop, RnB,Hip hop, Country, Jazz, Blues, Gospel and Modern electronic music has played a significant role in developing my music style.
I started working with well respected and very successful musicians, composers and sound-engineers:
D.Dirks (The Scorpions), Tony Hendrik (Haddaway), Jon Caffery (Die Toten Hosen), The Harlem Gospel Singers and Joy Fleming to name a few.
Here are a couple of achievements during that period:
- “Stimme des Jahres” (Best Vocal Performance of the year) in 1999 for my performance in the musical “Gaudi”.
- Komposition des Jahres” (Best Composition of the year) in 2001 for “Power of Trust” performed by "Joy Flemming" in the Eurovision Song contest.
- Release of 32 singles and 8 albums with major record companies in Germany such as: BMG, EMI electrola, Universal, Polydor, Zyx and Zomba Records as a Composer, Arranger or Vocalist (A list of my released works can be found in "Releases" section).I discovered a new musical love for the classical music and arrangements and it inspired me to compose and arrange scores for films and TV-series.
I moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2005 and started to rebuild my network and started working on various projects such as: “HITLER MEETS CHRIST”, (A feature length movie starring Michael Moriarty), "UNDER THE APPLE BOX" (A featured length movie by Ellie Fox and “SCALPEL” (A short film by Donavan Thomas) to name a few.
In 2008, I got to meet "DARIUSH" and we started working on various projects. Well many of you may not know him but he is a living Persian legend enjoying Super star status among Iranians. he can fill soccer stadiums in cites with large Iranian population and his concerts world wide are usually sold out! The album "Ensan" (Human), followed by Single releases such as "Shatranj"(Chess) and "300 Gole sorkh"(300 red roses) to name a few, were the results of this collaboration so far. It is a big honour to work with a true living legend!
